Mossley’s Academy team were involved in a thrilling 3-3 draw against second placed Matlock Town at Seel Park on Wednesday.
Matlock, having beaten League leaders Belper Town last time out arrived in confident mood, but in an epic end to end encounter either team could have taken the spoils and in the end a draw was probably the fairest result.
It was an open contest with Prince Owusu seeing his early effort come back off the crossbar while at the other end a whipped Matlock cross skimmed the Mossley bar.
The visitors took the lead in the 21st minute when Steve Mallinder rifled through a crowded box after Mossley failed to clear a corner.
Mossley equalised on the half hour when Beckham Adelaje skilfully beat three defenders and the keeper before slotting home from a tight angle.
Chances came and went at both ends with keeper Sattar saving well to deny Edgson and Connor Yeoman going close for Mossley.
Mossley took the lead on 60 minutes when Din Chin won a free kick and Prince Owusu rifled home a great free kick from 25 yards.
The lead was extended six minutes later. This time it was Owusu fouled outside the box and half time substitute Declan Lewis hammered home the resultant free kick.
Matlock reduced the arrears from the penalty spot through Ben Edgson on 71 minutes and equalised when a quickly taken free kick caught Mossley off guard and Max Hunt scored at the far post.
Sattar did well to tip over a late Matlock effort while at the other end another Lewis free kick curled just over the bar and the spoils were shared.
