Mossley's Academy were unlucky to go down by the odd goal in nine in Wednesday's home game against Leek Town.
Ryan Williams bundled home to give Mossley an 11th minute lead but two goals in two minutes gave Leek the upper hand and the visitors scored twice more before the break, the third from a clearly off-sde position and a fourth from a defensive error.
Bruno Camara reduced the arrears on the stroke of half time with a spectacular finish from 25 yards to leave the half time score at 2-4.
Dylan Fitzgerald pulled one back from the penalty spot on 67 minutes. But Leek scored a penalty of their own on 76 minutes.
Dylan Fitzgerald scored a solo goal on 77 minutes to set up a grandstand finish but Mossley struggled to create chances in the final third and Leek hung on to take the points.
