Curzon Ashton FC were formed in 1963 from the amalgamation of Curzon Road and Ashton Amateurs. They enjoyed immediate success in the Manchester Amateur League winning two league titles in the first three years. Curzon Ashton's finest moment came in season 79-80 when they became the first north west club to reach the semi-final of the FA Vase, and they also had their record attendance at the home leg of the semi-final when they achieved a gate of 1,800 which still stands today. Season 2005-06 will always be remembered as the year that Curzon Ashton moved in to the fantastic new Tameside Stadium The stadium was officially opened by Sir Alex Ferguson who brought a strong Manchester United reserve side to the Ashton-Under-Lyne club for the opening match. |
