MOSSLEY 0-1 CHORLEY (ABANDONED 62 MINUTES - FROZEN PITCH)
UniBond League Division One |
Tuesday 28th February 2006 Referee: P.Bromley (Leeds)

A pitch barely playable due to a freezing surface didn’t last the course as referee Mr P.Bramley of Leeds called a halt to proceedings after just over an hour of action. Chorley were the most aggrieved of the two sides as they led at the time after scoring in the closing seconds of the first half. It had up to that point been a largely entertaining game despite worsening conditions. Highlights of the game saw Lee Bracey make a stunning one handed save to deny Adam Roscoe’s close range header. Chris Downey hit the post with a great shot on the turn from 20 yards and Adam Morning brought the best out of Chorley keeper Phil Priestley who was at full stretch to keep out his goal-bound 20 yard effort. The unfinished game’s only goal came almost on the half time whistle. Steve Sheil conceded a corner on the left. The corner kick saw the otherwise impeccable Melford Knight fail with his attempted clearance and the ball fell to James Mullineaux who blasted into the roof of the net from six yards. Jordan Goodeve replaced Martin Allison early in the second half as Mossley went in search of an equaliser but it was all to no avail as the temperature continued to drop and those who thought it was folly to start the game were proved right as the referee brought the game to a premature end after 62 minutes with the park end of pitch particularly badly affected. The match has been re-arranged for Tuesday 14th March with a 7.45 pm kick off at Seel Park. |
