Anyone who thought things could not get any worse than the matches with Belper and Warrington were wrong as Mossley suffered their heaviest league defeat in 10 years.

The game was effectively over before it had started as the Lilywhites rearguard shipped three goals in the first seven minutes.

Christian Cooke bemused keeper Sam McEwan with a headed own goal in the first minute and then two minutes later, ex-Mossley player Mario Daniel caught McEwan out with a corner which went in at the far post.

To compound the misery, the third came from another Daniel corner which Luke Horrocks tucked away, although it should have been kept out.
Half-time saw Rhodri Giggs replace Joe Shaw, but he lasted less than 20 minutes thanks to two yellow cards.

Meanwhile, Daniel Douglas-Pringle added a fourth from the spot early in the half before adding a second late on.

Douglas-Pringle was again on the mark in the last minute when he headed home from Headley's left wing cross.

Mossley’s afternoon was summed up at the death when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Chris Downey, only for the same player to see his spot-kick saved by Liam Higginbottom.
