Following a dreadful first half Mossley got their act together after the break to take their first points of the season thanks to a last gasp winner from Andy Thackeray.

Grantham opened with purpose but the game itself was error strewn throughhout the opening half. Neither keeper had really been tested when Anthony Bingham chased down a long ball alongside Grantham right back Nathan Morris. Sadly as Morris returned to his feet he delibaretly stamped on the Mossley striker and was shown an instant red card for his troubles.

Within a minute of the incident the now ten man home side took the lead. Popple's inch perfect through ball was turned home by Jason Turner who slid the ball just beyond the reach of Danny Trueman and into the far corner.

Mossley replaced the out of sorts Joel Pilkington and Kenny Mayers at half time with Martin Allison and Paul Garvey the replacements. Allison had an immediate effect as his promptings saw Mossley begin to dominate the game, a trend that continued throughout the second period.

Andy Thackeray . . .scored last minute winner

The by now deserved equaliser finally arrived in the 64th minute. Both Bingham and Joe Shaw had efforts blocked by the keeper before the ball broke to Martin Allison on the edge of the area and drove into the far corner to level the scores.

Grantham showed no signs of wanting to win the game from thereon and it was just a question as to whether Mossley could break them down again. Allison was finding holes in the Grantham defence that Garvey and Bingham where exploiting but time was running out when Bingham held off challenges on the edge of the box and layed the ball off to Andy Thackeray who curled an inch perfect left footer into the far corner to give Mossley maximum points for the first time this season.
