This game of play-off contenders versus relegation candidates was a classic match of two halves as Mossley defied their third from bottom placing to go in one goal to the good at the break, only for Guiseley to claw two goals back and then finish with aplomb with three goals in the last ten minutes.

Mark Bett threatened for the home side in the first minute but his low drive was just the wrong side of the upright and Mossley then had the better of the first period and opened the scoring just after the half hour when Steven Brackenridge put in a dipping shot which Steve Dickinson got a hand to but couldn't keep out.

It took Guiseley just ten minutes of the second period to restore parity as Richard Dunning floated in a cross which Marc Smith got on the end of only for Danny Trueman to parry, and then see Craig Hall pounce to put the loose ball into the net. Trueman then did well to push away Dunnings low drive before Bett beat the keeper with a header which the covering Christian Cooke cleared.

Hall then turned provider for Mark Smith to head the youngsters cross beyond Trueman and put the home side in front. With fifteen minutes remaining Mossley were searching for an equaliser and keeper Trueman decided to ad his presence to the Mossley contingent in the Guiseley penalty area. A decision which backfired spectacularly as the ball was cleared to Gavin Knight, who held off two challenges to slip the ball to Hall who bagged his second of the game.

Steve Brackenridge . . .
opened the scoring

Hall was then tripped in the area and took the opportunity to complete his hat-trick from the spot. Knight then completed Mosley's misery in the very last minute as he capitalised on some hesitation on the visitors defence to slide in Guiseley's fifth.
