Fellow strugglers Kendal Town became the sixth visiting team to win at Seel Park this season as Mossley gave another disappointing performance on home turf.

The game had started brightly enough as Mossley created a couple of excellent scoring opportunities in the first twenty minutes but Lee Shillito and James Turley were both unable to force the ball home through the mass ranks of Kendal defenders.

David Eyres also went close bringing a good save out of Kendal keeper Thompson.

Kendal took the lead three minutes before the interval when new central defensive pairing Mike Flynn and Danny Meadowcroft left the ball for each other and Dave Foster grabbed at the chance and lashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner from 20 yards.

Kendal grew in confidence as the game progressed but Mossley were unable to get into their flow as the heavens opened on an already very windy day.

Peter Wright missed two glorious chances to equalise as he first turned Lee Shillito’s low cross past the post and then headed another Shillito cross over the bar when he will know he should have done better.

The points were as good as wrapped up for the Cumbrians when Warren Beattie finished well to double their lead on 75 minutes.

Mossley forced some late pressure. James Turley hit the post with a thunderous free kick and Meadowcroft had the ball in the Kendal net after being teed up by substitute Adie Orr but a linesman’s flag ruled the effort out and Mossley were again out of sorts and out of luck.
