After playing well and shading the first half Mossley faded after the break as Lincoln United completed a League double over struggling Mossley, despite Mossley having beaten their hosts 5-1 in the FA Trophy earlier in the season.

Mossley, naming their only fourteen fit players, created several openings in the first period and home keeper Ziccardi did well to save two efforts from the hard working Steve Burke while Jonathon Smith was unlucky to have a goal disallowed for an alleged push as he powered home a header from a free kick.

After the interval Lincoln stepped up a gear as Mossley faded and tested Steve Wilson with several early shots.

The home side took the lead on 73 minutes when the lively Mario Carchedi unleashed an unstoppable 25 yard piledriver past Wilson.

Mossley tried desperately to force their way back in the game but it was the home side who wrapped up the points two minutes from time through left back Gary Walters.

This latest defeat leaves the Lilywhites ten points from safety and in need of some positive results and quickly if they are to survive more than one season back in the UniBond Premier.
