Mossley came within a few minutes of a hard earned victory at North Ferriby but came away feeling like a mugging had taken place as the home side snatched two late goals to snatch the points away.

Mossley had begun the game earnestly but were unable to put flamboyant keeper Antoni Pecora to the test. In fact neither side tested the keeper throughout an evenly fought half that saw defences pretty much on top.

Mossley were unfortunate to lose playmaker Joe Shaw just before the half hour as he was cynically hacked from behind by a two footed challenge from Ferriby central defender Paul Foot who was shown a yellow card when red seemed more appropriate for the nature of the challenge.

The enforced change forced Anthony Bingham into an unfamiliar role as an attacking midfielder and a return to action after injury of Steven Burke.

The second half continued in much the same vein as the first with play switching from end to end but Mossley were looking the more likely and that proved meaningful on 58 minutes. Martin Allison’s free kick from deep on the right was completely misjudged by Pecora and Steve Sheil was in the right place at the right time to head comfortably into an open goal.

Shortly after substitute James Tyrell-Nestor replaced Kenny Mayers and was then subjected to two identical fouls by Ferriby number 11 Price who was yellowed for the first and let off with a chat from the ref for the second. Both times JTN needed treatment and Price was the second Ferriby player to be lucky to stay on the field.

At the other end Danny Trueman made an excellent save to deny Wainman and just as it looked like Mossley were to hold on for an important victory the game went pear-shaped for the visitors.

Steve Sheil . . . haeded Mossley in front

Mossley lost possession on the right of midfield, Bradshaw wriggled free for just about the only time in the game and fed Chris Boulder who equalised from six yards with only four minutes remaining.

Worse was to follow a minute later when Mossley’s defence got in complete tangle and Leon Wainman was on hand to fire the home side into a sudden and unexpected lead that they hung on to to the final whistle.
