Mossley played some inspired football at Whitby but somehow came away with nothing after conceding two sloppy goals from corners, the last of which sadly came in the 92nd minute.

The Lilywhites had totally bossed the first half and deservedly grabbed the lead through Joe Shaw's excellent finish on 28 minutes.

However, Tom Claisse levelled three minutes later when he scored a clinical low drive from the angle.

Mossley deservedly regained the lead on 38 minutes. Anthony Bingham had plenty of time when two on two to cross for Joe Shaw to acrobatically volley over Campbell from close range for 2-1.

That's how it stayed till half-time, but after the break Whitby looked a much brighter side.

Reid had an effort saved but Tom Raw headed over keeper Danny Trueman from just inside the box from the resulting corner, for the equaliser.

Joe Shaw . . . scored a brace

Mossley won a penalty on the hour when home keeper Campbell fouled Peter Wright. He got back up only for Campbell to make a fine low save from the spot kick.

As play swept to either end in a frantic finale, An error in midfield saw Whitby win a corner and from that corner Danny Farthing poked the loose ball home from close range in the ensuing melee with 92 minutes on the clock.

It was heartbreaking stuff for Mossley who’s display deserved far more than the nothing it finally got.
