The three division gap between Chadderton and Mossley was clear to see despite an uneven surface. Mossley played with purpose and showed great movement throughout a mostly one sided game.

James Tyrell-Nestor gave a sign of things to come when he weaved and powered his way into the box before seeing his effort come back off the bar.

Chadderton responded with their first and almost only threat when Lee Bracey was forced to palm a shot away and the home side saw an effort come back off a post in the same attack.

Mossley eased ahead on 25 minutes. James Tyrell-Nestor broke to the right and blasted home off the foot of the far post from a tricky angle.

It was Tyrell-Nestor who set up the second when his mazy run eluded the home defence and he crossed low for Paul Garvey to tap home from point-blank range.

The second half saw Mossley in tiotal control as they passed the ball well with half time substitutes Joe Shaw and Anthony Bingham along with the constant menace of Tyrell-Nestor causing havoc in the Chadderton defence.

The third goal arrived on 55 minutes when Joe Shaw rifled home from just outside the box and the result was completed on 80 minutes when Joel Pilkington curled a shot into the top corner from 20 yards.

Chadderton almost scored a late consolation when a high speculative shot that seemed bound for the nearby fire station dropped like a stone onto the bar and into Bracey's relieved hands.

After Sunday's non event this was a much better showing with a much stronger team on view.
