Mossley played some excellent flowing football to take a 2-0 half time lead against a youthful Macclesfield Town side at Seel Park.

The Lilywhites got off to a great start when Terry Bowker scored with a spectacular acrobatic volley in only the second minute following some strong early pressure.

With Melford Knight and Joe Shaw in dominant form Macclesfield struggled to get a grip on the game and Mossley deservedly doubled the lead on 25 minutes as Kenny Mayers scored from close range after good work by Shaw and the livewire Anthony Bingham.

Macclesfield began the second half with more purpose and finally reduced the arrears on 64 minutes when Christian Dennis scored at the third attempt after two shots both bizarrely came back off the same post.

Mossley's second half substitutions took time to settle into the game giving Macclesfield the impetus but Joe Shaw was unlucky when his spectacular long range effort was tipped onto the bar and out for a corner by visitors keeper Cooper.

Macclesfield's equaliser came in the very last minute when Dennis was left with an easy tap in after an excellent run by McDonald.
