Mossley enjoyed a comfortable win over UniBond First Division side Warrington Town at Seel Park.

The Lilywhites dominated the first half and Joe Shaw scored two cracking goals to give Mossley a half time lead that Warrington found unassailable.

Mossley pressed the visitors back from the start and Martin Allison, Chris Downey and Terry Bowker all went close. At the other end Lee Bracey was in fine form and he made a couple of excellent saves when called on as giant centre forward Simon Burton put himself about and last season's leading scorer Graeme Mitchell also needed watching closely.

The opening goal came on 28 minutes. Kenny Mayers played Anthony Bingham through and although it was Bingham who went round the advancing keeper it was Joe Shaw who was on hand to tuck the ball into an empty net from 15 yards.

Two minutes before the break Joe Shaw doubled his tally with a superb 30 yard daisy-cutter that found the bottom left corner giving Warrington keeper Lowe no chance.

Several half time changes disrupted a flowing performance somewhat but Bracey and a sound Mossley defence were equal to Warrington's best spell of pressure.

Joe Shaw . . . scored two cracking goals

As the game entered it's last minute Nicky Thompson crossed from the right for Steve Burke to get the slightest of touches before the ball deflected off a defender's head and into the net.

Warrington scored a consolation with the last kick of the game through substitute Hanley.
