Mossleyweb Man of the Match: Leon Henry

Mossley took maximum points from today's trip to Harrogate Railway Athletic thanks to a last minute winner by substitute Nick Challinor. The lanky versatile player, a 78th minute subsitute for Dave Prout, got on the end of Dave Hanlon's left wing free kick to powerfully fire home just as the stoppage time was announced as a minimum 2 minutes.

Railway whose somewhat roughhouse tactics coupled with some lenient refereeing gave them a physical edge in the first half though chances were few for either team as the blustery conditions and a lively surface caused problems for both teams. Mossley constantly lost their way in the final third throughout the opening period and neither goalkeeper found himself heavily tested.

Just before the break Harrogate lost Riley with a head injury following an accidental clash with Daryl Weston but the home side then took the lead just two minutes after the restart. A free kick on the right was crossed into the Mossley box, Dunne saw his shot blocked by Liam Higginbotham but the Mossley keeper was unable to gather and centre half Ronnie Morgan was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Mossley finally upped the tempo and started to look dangerous on attack. the equaliser finally arrived in the 61st minute. Danny Dignan turning the ball home from a very well placed Dave Hanlon left wing free kick. This after Dignan had been fouled.

Mossley looked the most likely winner from there on. Substitute Danny Egan was a thorn in Railway's side with some excellent movement and he fired wide after outfoxing his marker. He was also unlucky when subsitute Ben Wharton's low cross hit his heel.

The winner came as the clock struck 90 minutes. Dignan was again fouled on the right. Hanlon again fired in a free kick into the danger area and there was Nick Challinor to crash home sending the large contingent of Mossley fans and players alike into ecstacy. A minute later with Railway not having tiome to respond the game was over Mossley had another three points in the bag without ever really finding their best form.
