Mossleyweb Man of the Match: Andy Watson

Mossley's latest unbeaten run came to and end at a rain soaked Victory Park as two late goals gave Chorley a victory that their overall play just about deserved.

The home side took the game to the visitors from the off and the game was compressed in the Mossley half during the opening spell. However, Mossley won a corner on the right with their very first attack in the 10th minute and the outstanding Andy Watson powerefully headed home from Lee Blackshaw's flag kick.

A minute later Mossley thought they were two up. Branagan saved Steve Moore's shot but Chris McDonagh followed up to net the rebound. It looked a perfectly good goal but the assistant had his flag raised and the effort was ruled out.

Chorley, with the wind and rain at their backs, went on to dominate the remainder the half and equalised in the 29th minute. Nolan's clever through ball sent ex Mossley winger Lee Shillito scampering clear to slot the ball past the advancing Collinge.

Mossley began the second half the stronger and looked the likelier to score next as the Lilywhites midfield, by-passed in the first half, began to get a grip on the game. Chorley's best outlet being the powerful and very quick Chris Amadi.

Chris McDonagh hit the inside of the post from a great position, Settle, Blackshaw and Matty Kay all spurned scorable chances and Steve Moore was brought down by the keeper as he attempted to round him outside the box and Mossley were made to pay for those misses when substitute Danny Lloyd-McGoldrick slotted home eight minutes from time.

Mossley pressed hard for an equaliser but as the game entered stoppage time Graham Kay was caught in possession in the Chorley half and the ball broke for Amadi who darted half the length of the pitch to round Collinge and walk the ball home.

Even then Mossley, as usual, didn't give up and Matty Kay scored his 22nd goal of the season in the dying seconds, but it was too little too late for Mossley who succumbed to defeat for only the second time in twelve games since John Flanagan took over the managerial reins in January.
