UniBond League new boys AFC Fylde look to be in for a good first season on this performance against Mossley’s stubborn and ultimately effective resistance.

Mossley, resplendent in their new away kit for the first time, gave a full debut to Nathan McDonald and he replaced Danny Egan leading the line in an unepected 4-5-1 formation. Sam Walker also returned to the side after passing a late fitness test.

Early play swung to and fro, both sides winning corners on multiple occasions but neither side testing their opponents goalkeeper.

In fact chances were at a premium at both ends though AFC Fylde probably shaded possession overall.

It was the second half before Peter Collinge was called on to deal with anything other than crosses and he twice came to Mossley’s rescue with fine saves from former Bamber Bridge star Alex Porter.

At the other end chances were at again at a premium Nathan McDonald coming closest in the second half with a ferocious drive that went just wide.

Otherwise it was defences on top and Mossley held firm despite some late pressure from the home side to pick up another away point.

With 4 points from 2 games on their travels Mossley now need to replicate their away form at Seel Park.
