Mossley gave debuts to their two new signings Karl Brown and Steve Settle but neither were able to give the Lilywhites a much needed lft on their Friday night visit to Warrington Town in what was a very poor display.

Mossley never got into gear on a blustery night at Cantilever Park and although the home side themselves were limited in their abilities they had little problem in overcoming a Mossley side that looked short on ideas and creative invention.

Mossley's only chances of the opening half fell to new boy Settle who blazed wide when when well positioned and Sam Walker who skilled his way into the box and appeared to be impeded as he bore down on goal and the opportunity was lost.

Neither side created anything of note in open play. Warrington retained the ball better and played some good pass and move football in the opening half but Mossley's defence was barely troubled. However that all changed on 26 minutes when Warrington won a right wing corner which saw home captain Mike Tomlinson outjump a static Mossley back line to head home at the far post.

Mossley replaced Chris McCaughtrie with Danny Egan at half time and with the wind now at their backs ought to have worked the home defence to a much greater degree than they did. Warrington's attacks also constantly broke down as the game devolved further.

Warrington wrapped the points up on the hour from another set piece. This time they won a left wing corner and Tomlinson completed his brace with a fine diving header as he lost his marker from the flag kick.

Settle and Egan both found the side netting with angled shots while Andy Watson fired straight at the keeper when well placed as Mossley attempted to forge a way back into the game, but it was a forlorn hope as Warrington comfortably played out time to leave Mossley still without a win since the opening day of the season.
