Mossley produced a determined performance to come from behind and take three vital points at Cammell Laird.

After an inactive three week period since the last game Mossley were slow to get into their stride, and Cammell took the lead on 9 minutes when debutant Todd Blaney darted through the Mossley rearguard on to a neat through ball to round Pete Collinge and roll the ball into the empty net.

It could have been worse for Mossley two minutes later when a cross from the right found Blaney at the far post, and after cutting inside, his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by Andy Watson, who then recovered well to also block the follow up effort.

Mossley then moved Ben Richardson into midfield with Mike Oates covering the right flank, and slowly they began to impose themselves. Kristian Dennis' shot was deflected for a corner, then Richardsons powerful drive narrowly cleared the bar.

Mossley were trying to use the flanks to good effect with Oates and Cavell Coo prominent in trying to break down the home defence.

On 38 minutes Dennis flicked a great ball into the path of Matty Kay, who raced past the last defender to finish confidently into the bottom corner.Mossley's football was now starting to flow and after Fish had a low shot saved by the home keeper, neat build up play freed Coo on the left only for his cross to be blocked at the near post.

The second half started in scrappy fashion with neither side able to threaten the opposing goal,Mossleys best chance being a Richardson free kick from the left after Fish had been fouled but the keeper made a routine save. For their part Cammell did create a couple of half chances but weren't able to trouble Collinge. Mossley then upped the pace again and a good Oates cross forced a corner.

The winning goal arrived after 70 minutes when Richardson, now playing on the left, found half a yard to whip in a near post cross which Dennis expertly clipped past the keeper into the opposite corner of the net.

Oates and Fish then combined to set up Daryl Weston, whose piledriver was deflected wide. Cammell tried to force their way back into the game and after a couple of shots went narrowly wide, Collinge had to be alert to tip over a powerful strike from the edge of the box, with Mossley surviving an appeal for handball from the resulting corner.

After Richardson had once again shot narrowly over the bar, Cammell had their best period with a sustained spell of pressure which forced Mossley back, but Graham Kay and his fellow defenders proved up to the task, with Mossley surviving a further penalty claim for handball.

It only remained for Mossley to have the final word in injury time when some superb one touch build up play saw Richardson play in Connor Hampson but the Mossley sub unfortunately slipped at the vital moment and couldn't convert.

A vital 3 points which sees the team up to 12th place, and once the early cobwebs had been blown away, a more than satisfactory performance from all involved.
