Mossley slipped to yet another defeat at Seel Park on Tuesday evening this time to a very mediocre Salford City side who stole the game with two calamitous second half goals. Mossley once again have no one else to blame but themselves.

Both sides created openings in the first few minutes Peter Collinge saving well to deny Glyn Barker and then Mike Oates missing a gilt edged chance when put clean through only to see ex Mossley keeper Andy Robertson save with his legs.

The visitors took the lead in the 12th minute. Barker found himself in far too much space on the left and his low cross was turned home by Brett Mbalanda.

The Salford lead was short lived as Mossley equalised four minutes later. The Lilywhites won a corner on the left. Lee Rick’s cross was turned home through a crowded six yard box by debutant defender Rob Flint.

Both sides had chances with both keepers called into action as play swung from end to end.

The second half saw Mossley create the better chances but Kris Dennis missed two good opportunities when latching onto long passes. Firstly firing past the far post when well placed and then from an almost identical position he hit the left hand post with a much better effort.

Salford regained the lead in the 73rd minute with what was from a Mossley viewpoint a dreadful goal. Skipper Graham Kay needlessly gave the ball away when un-pressured and when the ball fell to player manager Rhodri Giggs, the ex Mossley striker fired in a shot that somehow squirmed out of the otherwise impressive Peter Collinge’s hands and found
it’s way through his legs and over the line.
Salford couldn’t believe their good fortune while Mossley heads dropped.

Salford added a third goal on 83 minutes when substitute Josh Bardsley fired home with his first touch after being given far too much space.

Salt was rubbed in Mossley’s wounds when Rob Flint’s debut ended with a red card five minutes from time for an off the ball incident as the players lined up for a Mossley corner.
