Mossley strolled to a second comfortable win over Trafford at Shawe View on Tuesday night with all four of the club’s main strikers finding the target.

On a surprisingly bobbly and increasingly frosty Trafford pitch both sides endeavoured to play flowing football from the off but both sides struggled to get their game together. However, it was Mossley who in the end succeeded in doing so as Trafford succumbed to a second heavy defeat against the Lilywhites in a matter of a few weeks.

Mossley fans were surprised to see Mike Oates and Danny Egan start ahead of in form strikers Fish and Dennis but it was a move that inevitably paid off.

Mossley created the majority of the better chances throughout the evening and were full value for the positive result.
The Lilywhites had already missed several chances before they deservedly opened the scoring in the 34th minute. Aaron Chalmers cross from the right was met by a Danny Egan scissor kick that was going narrowly wide when Mike Oates popped up at the far post to turn the ball home. It was no less than Oates deserved for an all action performance which was unfortunately ended early by a groin injury incurred in the second half.

Trafford’s best chance of the half came when Peter Collinge saved well with his feet from a Danny Shannon effort.
Trafford opened the second half brightly but had little cutting edge as the Mossley defence dominated and a second Mossley goal was always on the cards.

Man of the Match Egan caught Trafford defender Stephen Thompson in possession and substitute Kristian Dennis, on for the injured Oates, raced through to slot home right footed in the 68th minute.

Trafford striker Tommy Turner was then thwarted by a remarkable double save by Collinge as the home side attempted to fight back but the game was ended as a contest in the 77th minute. Egan firing home from close range after some heavy Mossley pressure.

The home side reduced the arrears five minutes from time when the otherwise faultless Graham Kay saw his header back to Collinge fall a little short and keeper’s attempted booted clearance cannoned off former Mossley player Joe Shaw and back into the net.

Mike Fish, who had replaced the injured Ben Richardson, added the fourth goal in the 90th minute when he fired home after some good work on the right wing by Matty Kay.

Egan was unlucky not to add a fifth goal in stoppage time after he won a race for the ball with Trafford skipper Paul Ashton but the ball bobbled hideously as he was shooting and the chance was gone.
