Current England Schoolboy International striker Fabio Abreu scored with his first touch in a Mossley first team shirt to help Mossley to a full value victory over play off bound AFC Fylde at Seel Park on Easter Saturday.

Mossley had opened the game brightly and saw an early chance cleared off the line with Chris Rowney putting in some excellent crosses from the right.

However as the half wore on Fylde's angled long ball game started to cause problems for Mossley with the visitors best chance coming on 20 minutes when Barnes whipped in a cross-shot that Peter Collinge saved at full stretch and when the ball came back to Walwyn, Mossley man of the match Cavell Coo made a superb goal saving block.

Fylde just about shaded the first half but their tactics were predictable and the second half saw Mossley deal more effectively with the pacey threat of their dangermen Townson, Walwyn and Barnes to the degree that all three were eventually substituted.

The visitors solid defence were proving almost impenetrable for Mossley until teenager Abreu made his appearance as a 69th minute substitute for Kris Dennis. In his very first action the talented youngster who has scored 14 goals in 12 appearances for the reserves and youth teams clipped Mike Fish's delicate through ball over the head of the stranded keeper Stevenson to give Mossley the lead.

From that moment on Mossley were by far the better side. Solid at the back throughout and a constant threat in attack especially following the arrival of on the pitch of Sam Hare. The ex Stockport County junior had replaced the injured Mike Jones with Chris Rowney switching to full back and Hare's fast pass and move style caused the now overworked Fylde defence serious problems.

It was Hare who finished the visitors off in the final minute when he latched onto Abreu's precise pass to lob the ball over keeper Stevenson's head to deservedly secure the points for a resurgent Mossley side who had been boosted by the permanent appointment of manager Gareth McClelland in the build up to the game.
