Droylsden sneaked a cheeky winner ten minutes from time in a well contested friendly at Seel Park tonight.

Mossley opened well against their full strength Blue Square Bet North opponents but chances for either side were few and far between. Mossley fielded forward Osabi Abadaki and the speedy young Nigerian caused problems for the Droylsden defence with his pace and trickery throughout the opening half. It was Abadaki who came closest to breaking the deadlock when his 20 effort fizzed past the post.

Mossley ought to have been awarded a penalty when Mike Oates was fouled but the referee waved away Mossley's appeals. At the other end Aaron Tyrer made a couple of smart saves to deny Booth and ex Mossley man Kilheeney.

The second half saw even fewer chances but Droylsden's winner came just after Mossley's best move of the game. A number of accurate passes worked Mossley up the field before Steve Settle's mazy run was denied by a tackle as he bore down on goal. The decision should have been a corner but from the resultant goalkick the visitors worked the ball upfield and David McNiven caught Tyrer off his line and scored with a cheeky lob from the edge of the box.

It was another good test for the Lilywhites and they again did well against higher ranked opposition.
