A winner couldn’t be found in this exciting end to end match at Seel Park on Tuesday night as Mossley and Witton Albion were forced to share the spoils with six goals unable to separate them in a game were the lead changed hands three times.

Mossley almost made the perfect start as, in only the second minute Mike Fish found space on the left and curled a fine shot around visiting keeper Matt Cooper only to see his effort come off the inside of the post and pass agonisingly along the Witton goal-line without finding the net.

Both sides looked to play open attacking football and the passing by both sides was of a generally excellent standard.
Cooper had made two fine blocking saves to deny Mossley but the deadlock was broken in the 21st minute when sweet passes by Rowney and Fish set up Kristian Dennis who cut outside the last defender before slotting home right footed from ten yards.

Witton responded and the impressive Joe O’Sullivan saw his 20 yard effort cannon off the outside of the post but Mossley went in a goal to the good at the break.

The second half opened badly for Mossley as Witton first equalised and then took the lead within five minutes of the restart. Colwyn Bay loanee Alex Titchiner squeezed home the leveller following some sloppy defending and skipper Ian Kierney then scrambled home a second moments later.

Mossley’s response was almost immediate as Kris Dennis raced through a static Witton backline, curling his shot beyond Cooper’s despairing dive to notch his second.

Mossley went in search of a winner and began to dominate proceedings finally gaining their just deserts in the 70th minute. Mossley worked the ball around the Witton box looking for an opening and when the ball reached Kris Dennis, the deadly Mossley striker controlled the ball first time and sent an unstoppable angled drive past Cooper to complete his first Mossley hat-trick.

Witton again came strong and equalised through a scrambled Andy Kinsey goal five minutes later.
Mossley almost snatched a late winner when Matty Kay’s goal-bound shot was brilliantly turned away by Cooper as a goal looked an almost certainty.
