Mossley had a great opportunity to gain a positive result against promotion chasing Farsley at Seel Park on Saturday but, not for the first time this season, a poor start to the second half proved costly.

Nathan Taylor was finally given his first start in a Mossley shirt and he replaced Osebi Abadaki who dropped to the bench. Ben Richardson returned to central midfield in place of the injured Ben McNamara and Mike Jones came in at right back with Cavbell Coo switching back to left back.

The Lilywhites dominated the first half though goalscoring chances were limited. Mossley almost made a great start when Farsley keeper Pecora tried to shield the ball out for a goal-kick but Tom Denton somehow squeezed round him to cross but Milnes just about beat Taylor to head clear.

Mossley took the lead in the 11th minute. Mike Jones hung a great cross from the right and Tom Denton rose highest to head home his first Seel Park goal.

Mossley continued to force the pace but Farsley defended stubbornly without creating anything of note themselves.

A couple of minutes before the break Mossley had a great chance to go two up when Danny Queeley’s low ball into the box found Denton, but the big Mossley striker volleyed narrowly wide and unfortunately for Mossley that moment proved to be a turning point in the game.

Farsley started the second half in whirlwind fashion and drew level within three minutes of the restart. Dominic Krief turning the ball home after good work by Farsley’s powerful target man Ben Jones.

Farsley now had the bit between their teeth and their vastly experienced side pressed Mossley back for the first time in the game.

What proved to be the winning goal came on 54 minutes. Mike Jones conceded a foul five yards outside the Mossley box and Farsley’s veteran playmaker Simeon Bambrook curled a fine free kick around the Mossley defensive wall and beyond Peter Collinge’s despairing dive.

Mossley tried hard to make a fist of a fight back but were thwarted by Farsley resorting to hoofing the ball clear at every opportunity.

Abadaki replaced Taylor for Mossley but the tricky striker wasn’t able to find any room around the box and when he did get in a cross ort a shot it was blocked by Farsley’s solid defence.

Alex Byrne replaced Kayde Coppin and Nathan Neequaye returning from injury replaced Mike Jones as Mossley desperately sought an equaliser.

However, in the end Farsley ran the clock down in competent fashion having kept Mossley at bay despite the L:ilywhites best efforts to create scoring opportunities.

Following the game Manager Gareth McClelland announced his resignation to the players.
