A scintillating first half performance was enough to see off the challenge of struggling Ossett Albion at Dimple Wells on Saturday as the Lilywhites raced into a 3-0 half time lead.

Mossley boss Gareth McClelland gave a debut to the newly re-signed Nathan Neequaye who partnered Stockport loanee Cameron Darkwah up front. The extremely quick pair were too much for the home defence and the pair threatened to run riot in a mostly one sided first half.

After threatening from the off Mossley took a deserved 13th minute lead when Joe Heap tricked his marker on the right before crossing low where Nathan Neequaye met the ball to blast home from six yards.

Six minutes later Mossley doubled the lead. Kayde Coppin’s glorious through ball found Cameron Darkwah who took a couple of quick touches before rifling low past the well beaten home keeper Adam Rhodes.

Ossett enjoyed a spell of pressure and won a couple of corners and Ben McNamara was forced to clear off the line to block Tracey’s effort.

McNamara was unlucky to be substituted after 30 minutes. The referee had not taken kindly to a couple of heavy tackles by the young Mossley midfielder and the third one saw him yellow carded before being saved from further punishment moments later. His replacement Alex Byrne slotted into the same role.

Neequaye was then unlucky to see his next effort clatter the crossbar while Coppin, Heap and Darkwah all went close to increasing Mossley’s lead.

The third goal came a minute before the interval when Dartkwah left defenders in his wake before firing another great shot past the shell-shocked Rhodes.

Mossley slackened off the pace after the break which allowed Ossett to create a chance or two of their own and Martin Pearson was forced into a couple of saves before the Mossley keeper made a costly error. Racing from his goal to meet a through ball he misjudged his kick and Darol Lucas was able to walk the ball into an unguarded Mossley net.

Darkwah was then replaced by Osebi Abadaki who was soon in the action with a couple of mazy dribbles. He was then joined up front by Harry Noon who replaced Neequaye and Mossley stepped up a gear once more for the final fifteen minutes. Steve Halford blazed a powerful shot narrowly wide as did Kayde Coppin.

Abadaki wriggled free of two tackles but fired into the side netting while Harry Noon was also heavily involved in some clever Mossley moves and was unlucky not to score as his powerful shot grazed the bar.

Mossley added a deserved fourth goal in the closing moments with an excellent solo effort by Osebi Abadaki. The speedy front man shielded the ball superbly with his back to goal before spinning off to his left and firing right footed across the face of goal and into the far corner in one lightning fast movement.
