Mossley rounded off their pre season program with a comfortable win over a youthful FC United of Manchester line up at Seel Park on Tuesday evening.

The new look Lilywhites controlled the game from start to finish and once Mossley had taken the lead that their almost total dominance deserved there was only ever going to be one winner.

Mossley's pass and move football had United for the most part chasing shadows in a one sided first half and the only real surprise was that the Lilywhites only took a two goal lead by the break.

FC United keeper Jon Worsnop, who once had the briefest of spells with Mossley, was by far the busier goalkeeper and had to be alert to the dangers provided by the very lively Nathan Taylor and Sam Madeley.

Worsnop saved well to deny Taylor from Mossley's first chance and did similarly well to block Madeley's effort shortly after. Keil O'Brien went close with a header from a Mossley set piece but that incident saw FC United defender Josh Bardsley stretchered off with an upper body injury as he colllided with keeper Worsnop following a lengthy delay.

Mossley finally took the lead on 28 minutes when Kayde Coppin attacked down the left and his curling cross-cum-shot from deep beat Worsnop's desperate attempt to save and looped into the net off the far post.

Mossley stepped up the pressure and eight minutes later Sam Madeley doubled the Lilywhites lead when he finished off after a goalmouth scramble.

A similar goalmouth melee moments later saw Madeley and Taylor denied by some frantic defending which saw ex Mossley defender Nick Swirad clear off the line.

The second half saw Mossley gradually use all their subsitutes but the home side's dominance continued. Sam Hind went close with two headers and Chris Rowney was unlucky not to score as Mossley played some tricky stuff around the edge of the FC United box.

A floodlight fault saw the game delayed briefly but the game was able to continue to it's finish despite the loss of one tower for the remaining fifteen minutes.

It was a tendancy to maybe overplay a little in the later stages that saw the Lilywhites fail to add to the two goal advantage but the game was won long before the final whistle and it is evident that Steve Halford's charges are now very close to being ready for the far more important challenges that lie ahead.
