Mossley moved back up to third place in the Evo-stik League table as they simply out played and outclassed struggling Goole in a feisty encounter at the Victoria Pleasure Ground on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites scored four without reply but it could easily have been at least twice that as the visitors created a good number of chances throughout what was a somewhat one sided game.

Manager Steve Halford made just one enforced change to that side that won at Ossett Town on Saturday. Dave Young returning from injury in place of the unavailable Chris Brown.

The Lilywhites were quick out of the blocks and missed two decent chances in the opening few minutes with Kayde Coppin firing narrowly wide when well placed and then missing with a close range header.

Coppin Sam Hind, Chris Denham and Lee Rick were causing all kinds of difficulties for the home defence without really testing home keeper Neal May. However, that all changed in the 24th minute as Coppin burst into the box. He looked to have over-run the ball but was brought crashing down by David Taylor. The referee awarded the Lilywhites a penalty and Gary Gee stepped up and fired into the top corner, giving May no chance.

Goole responded with a spell of pressure. Aided by Nathan Hay's long throw ins' and a number of free kicks, the home side were able to fire high balls into the Mossley box, but Russ Saunders and his defenders coped well despite the aerial bombardment.

Goole's pressure didn't last long though, as in the last six minutes before the break Mossley had cemented the points. Coppin played Sam Hind through a gap in the left channel and the flame haired forward confidently stepped inside the last defender before he calmly slotted the ball past May at his near post.

Mossley trebled their lead two minutes before the break with a fine solo goal by Kayde Coppin. The livewire striker burst forward from midfield down the left channel, easily outpacing the Goole defence before slotting home a well placed shot into the far corner from 15 yards.

Mossley lost Adam Mather through injury at the break and he was replaced by Cavell Coo. However Cavell's stay was to be a short one as only five minutes later he was shown a red card along with Goole number 9 Neil Towler. Coo having responded aggressively to an alleged racist comment by the Goole player.

Mossley continued to dominate the ball with Gary Gee and Lee Rick still controlling midfield despite Ash Young now having slotted into the left back berth following the departure of Mather and then Coo.

Goole's stretched defence survived a number of Mossley raids before the Lilywhites completed the scoring in the 76th minute. Mossley won a right wing corner which was met near the penalty spot by skipper Jay Gorton who swiveled to powerfully volley home with May unable to keep the shot out.

Denham, Rick and substitute Danny Broadbent missed chances before the finish as did Goole substitute Henry Sibenge but it was inevitably a comfortable victory for the Lilywhites who after three straight victories are now right back in the play-off mix.
