Mossley went a third successive game without a goal at Lancaster City on Saturday afternoon as the Lilywhites currently shot shy strikers again failed to find the net. The good news for the Lilywhites was that on this occasion they didn't concede a goal either.

Attacking confidence has waned in recent games and it showed as Mossley constantly needed an extra touch, albeit on a bobbly surface, before pulling the trigger and, more often than not, by the time they did set to shoot the chance had gone.

Mossley again enjoyed plenty of possession but once again it was in the final third that Mossley failed to make it count. Cavell Coo had two powerful efforts blocked and Chris Denham twice fired wide from good positions but the front two of Kayde Coppin and Sam Madeley found little joy against an organized and surprisingly speedy home defence.

Steve Halford

Lancaster created very little themselves although midfielder Rory Winters was unlucky when his fierce drive from 25 yards cannoned off the Mossley post and away to safety. The Lilywhites defence was otherwise solid with central defenders Steve Halford and Jay Gorton both powerful and resolute in everything they had to do.

The second half descended into a scrappy affair. Lancaster survived a couple of goal-mouth scrambles and Chris Denham had a penalty appeal waved away. At the other end Darren Green had the ball in the Mossley net but was flagged off-side while Mossley's best chance came when substitute Sam Hind should have done better when he was sent scampering clear but as was the order of the day, he attempted an extra touch and the chance was gone.

In the end it was another frustrating afternoon for the Lilywhites as results elsewhere saw Mossley drop to 6th place having now not won a League game since early January. Results obviously need to improve quickly if the Lilywhites are to stay the course in the promotion race and with three successive home games to come it will be hoped they can now put a run of wins together.
