It took a while but Mossley eventually ran out comfortable winners against plucky Manchester Leaguers Prestwich Heys at Sandgate Road on Tuesday evening.

Mossley enjoyed most of the possesion throughout but it wasn't until the second half when the lilywhites finally put the game to bed as a contest.

Playing up the pronounced slope Mossley took the lead on 12 minutes when Chris Rowney floated in a cross from the left, Matt landregan brough the ball down before dinking a perfect lob over stranded home keeper Damien Rooney.

Mossley passed the ball well at times and created a number of half chances but Landregan and strike partner Sam Hind failed to increase the Lilywhites lead.

Mossley were shaken out of their comfort zone in the final three minutes of the half when defensive errors cost two goals both despatched clinically by lively left winger Martin Love.

With the slope in their favour after the break and having made four substitutions, Mossley created more scoring chances. Debutant substitute Sam Madeley looking a lively customer and he was twice denied by fine saves by Rooney.

Mossley equalised on 58 minutes when Ben Richardson tricked his way to the edge of the Heys box before seeing his shot take a deflection to wrongfoot Rooney.

Kayde Coppin replaced Rowney on 62 minutes and instantly brought another great save out of Rooney with a super 25 yard shot before Mossley were awarded a penalty a couple of minutes later when Nathan Taylor was fouled. Skipper Dave Young stepped up to rifle home from the spot.

Substitute wing back Kris King latched onto the end of Coppin's through ball on 68 minutes to make it 4-2 and the Lilywhites created more chances before Nathan Taylor completed the scoring on 87 minutes when he headed home Jordan Stepien's pinpoint right wing cross.
