Mossley simply brushed aside the challenge of neighbours Radcliffe Borough at Seel Park on Saturday, winning far more comfortably than the 2-0 scoreline suggests.

Despite the absence of the injured Adam Mather and Chris Brown, the Lilywhites slipped into gear from early in the game and never let their dominance slip throughout a predominantly one sided 90 minutes.

A goal in each half was however, all the Lilywhites had to show for their positive endeavours but the scoreline was kept down by some dogged defending by a reshuffled Boro back line and some exceptional goalkeepeing by Boro custodian James Coates.

Ash Young

Sam Madeley could have already been on a hat-trick by the time he gave Mossley a 15th minute lead when he clinically finished off a flowing move involving Chris Denham, Lee Rick and Kayde Coppin.

Mossley's three man midfield of Ash Young, Gary Gee and Lee Rick bossed the show and all three enjoyed excellent games. In fact the same could be said of the entire team who played well to a man. Boro being limited to hopeful pot-shots that failed to truly test Mossley keeper Russ Saunders.

Under no pressure whatsoever, Mossley finally added a second and decisive goal eight minutes after the break. The ball was switched quickly from left to right finding Gary Gee. The Mossley play-maker cut past his marker and curled a cross shot across the flat-footed Coates and into the top corner.

Mossley's best of several chances of a third goal came when Kayde Coppin, not for the only time, left his marker trailing on a left wing burst and crossed for Denham who's powerful point-blank header was somehow saved by Coates when a goal looked certain.

Mossley had played some flowing pass and move football throughout and exuded a collective confidence in their own ability that augers well for their prospects in the final seven League games. With the team back up to second in the table the play offs are becoming increasingly more than just a pipe dream.
