Mossley climbed to 8th place in the table with this well earned victory over a hard working Salford City side at Seel Park on Tuesday night, coming from behind to extend their winning run to five successive matches.

Mossley had the first chance of the game in the opening minutes but Dougie Carroll's effort was cleared off the line by a covering defender. Moments later the Lilywhites found themselves behind. The tricky Nelson Mota finding space to cross for Gary Prescott to prod home under pressure from eight yards.

Mossley rallied and ten minutes later were deservedly level. Mossley won a corner on the rigt wing. Tom Pratt whipped in the flag kick and centre back Ryan Marley climbed to head home his first goal in Mossley colours.

The Lilywhites were now on the front foot but the probing runs and interplay of Welbeck, Carroll and Pratt were well defended meaning scoring chances were at a premium. That changed in the 27th minute when Pratt was upended in the box by Otis Gorman and Dougie Carroll stepped up to calmly plant the spot kick beyond keeper O'Boyle's reach to give Mossley the lead.

The Lilywhites were barely troubled by Salford's attack despite some lively work by the impressive Mota on the left wing while at the other end big Salford central defenders Gorman and Walters were proving an effective pairing shoring up one of the Division's meanest defences.

The second half saw Mossley in control without creating much in the way of scoring chances while Salford were showing little penetration as Marley and Kevin McGrath showed no signs of conceding ground to the visitors rather blunt looking attack with Salford left shooting from distance to barely trouble Russ Saunders.

That trend almost changed with fifteen minutes remaining as Salford substitute Eder Ruiz cannoned a shot off the Mossley bar with his first touch since coming on moments earlier, but that was it for Salford as Mossley put the game to bed twelve minutes from time.

Mossley won a free kick some 35 yards out. Charlie Anderson hit a fantastic dipping set piece that O'Boyle did well diving to his left to turn for a corner. However, 'Man of the Match' Tom Pratt's perfect corner kick saw Charlie Anderson arrive to thump home a powerful header to seal the points in Mossley's favour.
