Mossley face an unwanted trip to Nottinghamshire on Tuesday night after being held to a 1-1 draw against ambitious Worksop Parramore at Seel Park in Saturday's FA Cup Preliminary Round tie.

The Lilywhites gave a debut to Bury loanee Tom Pratt and he made up a three pronged attack with Charlie Weir and Sam Madeley.

Parramore nearly got off to a flyer when Whittington burst through a gap on the right but Russ Saunders stood his ground and saved the visitors striker's effort.

The game settled into a nervy affair with neither side being able to take a grip on the game and neither side were aided by a lengthy break in play that saw Parramore forward Clarke eventually helped from the field with an ankle injury.

Mossley had a chance when Charlie Weir saw his effort blocked at the near post and on 23 minutes Mossley took the lead. John Bennett hit a diagonal cross from a deep position and Sam Madeley rose above the visitors keeper to head home his third goal in three games.

Mossley were then hit by an injury of their own when Kevin McGrath limped off on 31 minutes, leaving Mossley bereft of natural central defenders with the diminutive Bennett forced to drop into the back four alongside fellow midfielder Kyle McGonigle with Ryan Hopper coming on as substitute to take Bennett's midfield role.

The loss of McGrath paid almost instant dividends for the visitors as a long high ball was missed by Bennett and Sam Shaw raced through to lift the ball over the advancing Saunders for the equaliser on 35 minutes.

Tom Pratt maybe should have scored as he rounded the keeper from close range but somehow got the ball stuck under his feet with the goal at his mercy and the keeper was able to recover. Then before the break a terrific effort by Parramore skipper Patterson flew narrowly over the bar.

Parramore forced the issue after the break seemingly targeting the lack of height in the Mossley defence with high balls aplenty testing the nerve of McGonigle and Bennett. However, against the odds the pair survived the aerial onslaught. Parramore's best chance coming when Ward forced a wonder save from Saunders who somehow flipped his powerful point blank header over the bar.

At the other end Pratt burst through on the right but was forced wide and lost his angle and Hernandez was able to save at his near post. Pratt was a constant thorn in the Parramore side with his pace and movement and he again came close as Mossley looked the more likely winners in the late stages with Parramore forced to defend deeper and deeper as the half wore on but the Worksop side held on to earn the right to Tuesday's Sandy Lane replay.
