Mossley finally won a home League fixture for the first time since 19th April when hammering bottom markers Burscough 4-0 at Seel Park on Saturday.

It’s been a long frustrating wait for that elusive first home Evo-stik League win of the season and gave the Lilywhites management something to build on now that that particular ‘bogey’ has been laid to rest.

The Lilywhites got off to a flying start and never looked back after they took a sixth minute lead. A long ball up-field by Liam Flynn was controlled by Dave Short who out foxed his marker before calmly slotting home.

More chances followed. Jordan Bove was denied by keeper Marcus Burgess and Jason Hill saw his deflected shot hit the bar before Mossley doubled their advantage on 32 minutes as Matty Burke pounced from 10 yards after Burgess had blocked Mike Fish’s effort.

Damase Kiwanda had a great chance to make it 3-0 but his shot was blocked on the line.

Burscough had their first effort on target early in the second half when Denis Sherrif’s shot popped up in front of Flynn who somehow managed to turn the ball over the bar for a corner.

However, Mossley stretched the lead on 55 minutes. Kiwanda picked up the ball on half way and powerfully raced past two defenders before crossing low and hard for Jordan Bove to turn home at the near post.

The Lilywhites made all three substitutions in a five minute period and two of those replacements were involved in the fourth goal. Summer signing Tom Fisher making his first appearance since being injured in pre season set up fellow sub Mason Duffy for a close range finish.

Mossley dominated through to the finish and Fisher came close to making it five but his effort was well saved by Burgess.
