A rip-roaring first half performance saw a resurgent Mossley side race into a five goal lead against struggling Prescot Cables at Seel Park. The opening half also saw in form Mike Fish bag four excellent goals to take his total for the season so far to 17.

With the line up unchanged for the third successive game for the first time this season, the Lilywhites took their tally to nine points from what has been a productive week at Seel Park.

The Lilywhites got off to a positive start, Tom Pratt firing narrowly wide early on before Mossley took a 9th minute lead. Pratt’s precise through ball split the Prescot Cables defence and found Fish racing clear before rounding veteran keeper Phil Priestley to slot home the opener.

Nine minutes later and the Lilywhites were two up. This time it was Andy Keogh who threaded the ball through for Fish to rifle home from the edge of the box.

The third goal arrived in the 37th minute when Matty Burke’s cross from the right was powered home by Sam Robinson for his first goal since returning to the club last month.

The fourth goal and Fish’s hat-trick was probably the pick of the day’s goals. Jason Hill’s defence splitting pass saw 'Man of the Match' Fish control the ball in the air before placing a delightful clip over the stranded Priestley and into the Prescot net. Class!

Fish ended a remarkable half with his fourth on the stroke of half time when Burke again put the Lilywhites leading scorer through to finish smartly with a low drive.

Two minutes into the second half and it was 6-0. Good work by Pratt and Keogh saw Jason Hill in the right place to slot home his first goal for the club from six yards.

As Mossley took their foot off the gas James Edgar scored a consolation for Prescot on 62 minutes with a well struck angled drive.

Mossley made it 7-1 on 76 minutes when substitute Kyle McGonigle’s fine pass found skipper Keogh who took his goal tally into double figures for the season with a neat finish.

Prescot to their credit kept trying to create something and sneaked a second consolation goal on 79 minutes through one time Mossley loanee Dominic Marie.
