Promotion chasers Bamber Bridge were worthy winners at Seel Park on Saturday deservedly taking home the three points with an impressive controlled display against a Lilywhites side who had too many players below par.

The visitors were quickly out of the blocks and applied the early pressure Oliver Martin saving well from Michael Potts 12th minute effort.

Increasing pressure finally paid off for the visitors on 14 minutes when James Boyd received the ball on the edge of the box, cut inside and and hit a fierce shot into the bottom left corner to give Bamber Bridge. The goal 'had been coming'.

The West Lancashire side continued to dominate with Brad Carsley was denied by a full length Martin save and the Lilywhites stopper then denied James Boyd, pushing his shot away for a corner. Straight from the resulting flag kick Carsley rose highest to power a header that was tipped over the bar by the in form Martin who was again called into action to deny Regan Linney's effort. When Martin was finally beaten Keenan Quansah was on hand to clear the ball off the line.

After soaking up all that pressure Mossley suddenly, albeit briefly, kicked into gear in the 37th minute. Elliot Harrison won a midfield tussle and played in Matty Crothers who's precise pass to his left saw Mason Duffy fire across the keeper and into the far corner of the net to find themselves level somewhat against the run of play.

Not to be denied the visitors re-took the lead on the stroke of half time as Brad Carsley rounded Martin to score from a tight angle but from a suspiciously off-side position.

For a while the game became more even, Mossley briefly threatened but the 'brig defence were a solid and efficient unit and the Lilywhites were unable to create even half chances.

The visitors eventually started to take charge again as Carsley crashed a header against the Mossley bar from Waddecar's cross, Boyd saw his shot blocked and Garner's effort from the rebound was cleared off the line by Declan Evans.

The result was settled five minutes from time when visitors substitute Stuart Vasey set Carsley free down the middle before he clipped the ball over the stranded Martin as Bamber Bridge deservedly took the points.

With a trip to title favourites South Shields next up for the Lilywhites this performance was not exactly ideal preparation.
