Mossley gave avery good account of themselves against National League North neighbours Curzon Ashton in Tuesday's opening pre season friendly of the 2017/18 season at Seel Park.
The match was evenly contested but Mossley generally edged possession against opponents from two steps higher in the football pyramid.
There was plenty of quality football on display in the first half with Mo Ali and Liam Ellis coming closest to opening the scoring for Mossley while at the other end Tom Dean made a great block to prevent Max Leonard from putting the visitors in front.
Curzon took the lead five minutes after the interval when a mistake by Mossley trialist centre back let Brad Kay through on goal and the Lilywhites trialist keeper brought him down for a penalty. Scott Bakkor scored from the spot.
However the Lilywhites were level within five minutes. Former Mossley loanee keeper Cameron Mason sliced a clearance and Liam Ellis planted a delicate clip over the head of the stranded Mason into an empty net.
Both sides had chances thereafter but neither side could make it count with a draw probably a fair reflection of an entertaining opening game.
