After conceding a goal 25 second after kick off and falling two behind inside 20 minutes, Mossley rallied brilliantly to turn the game around and send the Lilywhites fans home happy with a resounding 4-2 victory over improving bottom markers Goole.

It couldn’t have been a worse start for the Lilywhites. Kicking off towards the School End Mossley lost possession in midfield Jerome Slew raced down the right wing and crossed low for the unmarked Carl Stewart to slot home.

Mossley were quickly on the offensive and created several openings with shots by Mason Duffy and Adam Latham going narrowly wide before Goole doubled their advantage when the lively Jerome Slew stepped inside a challenge and fired into the far corner giving Oliver Martin no chance.

Mossley rallied and reduced the arrears four minutes later as skipper Tom Dean headed home Duffy’s left wing cross.

Then, three minutes later the Lilywhites were back on level terms. Ambu Adama clearly handled Sam Howell’s left wing corner and Mike Fish stepped up to send keeper Sam Leigh the wrong way from the penalty spot for his first goal since rejoining the Lilywhites last month.

Mossley were now well on top and several more chances went begging before the break.
The second half saw the Lilywhites in total control and in the 57th minute went ahead. Good work by Fish and Duffy opened up the Goole defence before Caldon Henson raced in to hammer home a fierce drive from the edge of the box.

Four minutes later and the game was wrapped up as Fish and Latham combined and Danny McLaughlin was on hand to drive home from ten yards to spark a good natured mini pitch invasion and scenes of joy and delight amongst a season’s best crowd of 451.
