With both sides without a scheduled midweek game Mossley entertained Northwich Victoria in a friendly at Seel Park on Tuesday. Both clubs selected experimental sides but it was Mossley who came out comfortably on top as they cruised to a 4-1 victory.
It was Vics who opened the brighter though and they took an 11th minute lead when Vics very tricky trialist right winger was upended by Dan Johnson and the same player scored from the spot.
Mossley recovered their poise and created several chances before new signing Jamie Matthews scored at the second attempt on 30 minutes.
As half time approached Mossley both took and extended the lead. Aaron Dwyer put Mossley ahead with a well taken finish and just before the break Ismail Suleiman made it 3-1 with a fine finish from outside the box.
The second half saw Mossley well on top but they were a little wasteful in front of goal and added only one further goal, a fine looping long range effort by the trialist substitute number 14.
