Mossley got the Christmas festivities off to an early start with what eventually proved to be a convincing Seel Park win over Chasetown.

It didn’t always look that way though as Mossley got off to an awful start. Mossley gave a debut to new goalkeeper signing Josh Ollerenshaw but he was given no chance in just the 4th minute when the Lilywhites carelessly lost possession when playing out from the back and Thomas Hill capitalised to slot past Mossley’s stranded new number one.

Mossley’s early play was a catalogue of poor decisions and misplaced passes but when they finally did find another gear the Lilywhites had an effort cleared off the line before Mike Fish was brought tumbling by Chasetown keeper Curtis Pond on 24 minutes. Max Leonard stepped up to score emphatically from the penalty spot to level things up.

Mossley rarely looked back after that and went ahead six minutes before the break. Andy Keogh’s pass released Leonard who unselfishly set up Ben Halfacre to confidently fire past Pond from ten yards.

Chasetown tried to force the issue as the second half commenced but after an early rally failed to bring reward, the Lilywhites took control once more with Keogh and Godwin Abadaki controlling midfield. Leonard, Fish, Halfacre and Keogh all came close to stretching the lead before the killer third goal arrived on 62 minutes. Mike Fish received the ball just inside the Chasetown half. Approaching the visitors back four he simply clipped the ball past them and raced clear to score a brilliant solo goal.

Thereafter Mossley were in cruise control . Leonard, Halfacre, Abadaki and substitute Szymon Czubik all came close to stretching the lead but no-one was complaining about the result or performance come 4.45pm as the Lilywhites made it back to back wins.
