Mossley's frustrating end to the season was rounded off with a disappointing 1-1 draw at season long strugglers Clitheroe on Saturday.

The Lilywhites line up showed a couple of changes with skipper Andy Keogh suspended and Adam Jones named on the bench despite carrying an injury.

It was a generally flat game with neither side having anything to play for except pride. Mossley's extra quality showed for much of the game but the Lilywhites struggled to break down a resolute home defence.

Mossley had the better of the first half chances with Max Leonard, Mike Fish and Ben Halfacre all going close but the opening half finished goalless.

The Lilywhites upped the tempo after the break but were hampered when they lost Godwin Abadaki season ended 35 minutes early through injury when hurt in a tackle within ten minutes of the restart

Mossley were finally rewarded with the breakthrough goal on 65 minutes. Mossley were awarded a free kick some 20 yards from goal. Ben Halfacre stepped up to rifle a daisy cutter free kick into the bottom corner for his 20th goal of the season.

Fish (twice) and substitute Dylan Fitzgerald and chances to double the lead but Mossley were hit with fifteen minutes left on the clcok when Ben Richardson clipped Antoine Recizac in the box and Clitheroe substitute Jacob Gregory stepped up to slam home the resulting penalty kick.

Josh Ollerenshaw made a fantastic save to keep out Max Hazeldine's piledriver soon after to keep the scores level and the game and the season petered out to a flat ending thereafter.
