Mossley continued their impressive start to the new season when running out convincing 3-0 winners at neighbours Droylsden in Bank Holiday Monday's 'derby' clash.

Droylsden as always playing possession based football were well closed down high up the pitch throughout making it very difficult for the home side to play through the Mossley ranks. On the rare occasion that they did they found Mossley's defence as solid as a rock and Droylsden were able to create very few openings with an off-side flag curtailing their best chance of the afternoon.

The pace and movement of the Mossley attack meanwhile was causing much consternation for the Bloods and after a few half chances came and Mossley took a deserved lead on 28 minutes. Ben Richardson's long throw from the right was only partially cleared, Adam Jones hooked the ball back into the box where Godwin Abadaki flicked the ball into the path of Max Leonard who acrobatically volleyed home from ten yards.

Mossley looked a team full of confidence and were rarely trouble thereafter, particularly after the break when the Lilywhites took almost complete control of proceedings.

The seemingly inevitable second goal came just four minutes after the break from a rather unexpected source. Richardson's superb deep cross from the right wing was met by the unmarked Dieter Downey and the Lilywhites left back volleyed home right footed from eight yards for his first ever Mossley goal.

Mossley's game management was excellent and Droylsden were allowed very little in the way of attacking options and on 57 minutes the result was assured. Max Leonard was fouled in the box and the same player got to his feet to rifle the spot kick past home keeper Chris Thompson.

Mossley had several chances to increase their lead further as Adam Jones had a goal disallowed for off-side with chances also falling to Godwin Abadaki, Liam Ellis, Mike Fish and substitutes Ben Halfacre and Adam Latham but all just failing to add to the tally.
