With hopes of reaching a promotion play off place already dashed Mossley fans were hoping to finish the home season with a win against neighbours Glossop North End in front of a bumper crowd at Seel Park on Easter Monday. However, those hopes backfired as a disappointing performance by the Lilywhites saw the Hillmen take the points with a 3-1 win.

Mossley dominated possession throughout but lacked any real energy to push home their territorial advantage in a poor first half showing.

The home side suffered a blow when influential defender Adam Jones limped off as early as the tenth minute and the Lilywhites were hit again on 23 minutes when former Mossley player Kayde Coppin's whipped cross was headed home by Glossop's Curzon Ashton loanee Jack O'Leary.

Josh Ollerenshaw was forced into making a good save from Jack Tuohy's free kick while at the other end Mossley's best chance of the half saw Matt Homes save Andy Keogh's header.

The early stages of the second half saw very little improvement as Mossley showed little urgency to level things up but they did go close when Godwin Abadaki headed just over the bar.

Glossop doubled the lead against the run of play on 62 minutes when Jack Tuohy's 25 yard effort somehow squirmed under Ollerenshaw's dive to put the visitors firmly in the drivers seat.

Mossley finally woke from their slumbers and reduced the arrears with ten minutes left on the clock when Max Leonard dived to head home Ben Richardson's excellent right wing near post cross

The Mossley pressure increased and an equalsier looked increasingly likely as Holmes made a great finger tip save to deny Mike Fish's bicycle shot and for a brief time the pressure was intense. However, that all came to nought and in the last minute of stoppage time a late foray forward by Glossop saw Gary Gee stick out a leg and trip Elliott Messam and Matty Russell stepped up to score from the spot to ensure the points went Glossop's way.
