Despite enjoying long spells of possession Mossley went down to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of newly promoted Premier Division neighbours Hyde United at Seel Park on Tuesday evening.
The first half saw Mossley defend too deeply, maybe an after effect from the previous outing against Buxton, and a tendency to overplay in dangerous areas was to be their undoing.
As early as the 3rd minute Mossley were punished for a defensive lapse when a misplaced pass was intercepted by David Brown who made no mistake in putting the Tigers ahead.
Brown almost had a second soon after when his looping shot came back off the bar.
Mike Fish had a couple of chances to level for the Lilywhites but it was Hyde who went further ahead on 42 minutes when Chris Sutherland dived to head home a well struck cross from Mossley's left.
The second half saw Mossley play much higher up the pitch and they were much better for it. However, the final delivery was lacking and despite their domination of the ball they were unable to get on the score-sheet.
