Mossley made the visit to fellow promotion challengers Radcliffe on Saturday and recorded a fantastic 4-3 victory in a game that saw Mike Fish hit the winner for his 100thy Mossley goal.

The game kicked off and continued throughout at a high tempo with both sides looking to play attacking football.
It was Radcliife who opened the scoring in only the 7th minute when Matty Crothers high and deep corner kick was headed home at the far post by Lewis Lacy.

Mossley’s response was immediate but sadly unsuccessful as Max Leonard saw his superb 20 yard curler come back off the angle.

Radcliffe attacked again and Ollerenshaw made a great save to deny Louis Myers as chances and half chances at both ends through the half saw Mossley finally equalise a minute before the break when Fish set up Max Leonard who hit a great strike into the far corner giving ex Mossley keeper Ollie Martin no chance.

Radcliffe almost re-took the lead with the last action of the half but Ollerenshaw was again alert to the danger and the Lilywhites survived.

Two minutes in the second half and Mossley had turned the game around. Andy Keogh’s weighted through ball saw Max Leonard stroll round Martin before slotting home another great goal and three minutes later it was 3-1 as Ben Halfacre’s low driven 25 yard free kick was deflected off Radcliffe’s defensive wall and beyond the stranded Martin.

Radcliffe hit back and Owolabi looked a certain scorer but he hit the woodwork with an open net and Kieran Nolan made a great block to deny Wharton from the rebound.

Radcliffe reduced the arrears on 57 minutes as Ben Wharton charged clear from a suspiciously off-side position to lob over the advancing Ollerenshaw.

Mossley responded again and Richardson’s cross was turned home by Dieter Downey at the far post but the assistant’s flag was raised, mmm!

Keogh was denied by a great save by Martin and Halfacre went close before Radcliffe scored again as Tunde Owolabi pounced on an error on 67 minutes.

The decisive goal arrived just three minutes later and it was that man Mike Fish who turned the ball home from Richardson’s free kick to net his century of Mossley goals.

Tempers flared late in the game as Keogh was booked for a foul on Radcliife captain Rick Smith who responded aggressively and was shown a straight red card as Mossley held out for a deserved and extremely hard earned victory.
