Mossley again put in a hard working performance to take maximum points with a 4-1 win over Widnes at the Halton Stadium on Saturday.

The team showed one change from midweek with Steve Mason replacing Godwin Abadaki who was rested to the bench with Raul Correia and Jes Uchegbulam both making first appearances on the bench.

It wasn’t the best start for Mossley as they fell behind after only five minutes when Michael Grogan scored with a towering far post header from a deep cross.

The goal sparked Mossley into life and Andy Keogh’s goal-bound effort was blocked before Ben Halfacre equalised on 16 minutes as he worked his way around the last defender to finish well through the keeper’s legs.

Mossley went ahead on 28 minutes as Andy Keogh found the net with a smart finish after some great build up play.

Adam Jones made it 3-1 just before the break when he stooped to head home Ben Richardson’s cross.
New boy Raul Correia replaced Fish on 55 minutes for his debut.

Widnes had a great chance to reduce the arrears three minutes after the break when Richardson brought down Watson but Josh Ollerenshaw made a superb save from the spot kick to deny Kevin Towey. Ollerenshaw again denied Towey with another smart save soon after.

Jones hit the bar and Keogh hit a post as Mossley looked to extend their lead and the Lilywhites finally did so with five minutes left on the clock Max Leonard found Ben Halfacre who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to complete the scoring.

Mason Duffy and Jes Uchegbulam replaced Halfacre and Leonard immediately after the goal With the game already deservedly won.
