Mossley were given a stern test by a strong and mobile Stalybridge Celtic side in Tuesday night's well attended pre season friendly at Seel Park as Celtic ran out 2-0 winners.
Stalybridge took the lead in the 9th minute when an under hit Declan Evans back-pass was intercepted by Craig Hobson and the big Celtic forward clipped the ball over the stranded Dylan Forth.
Forth was then Mossley's hero as he made a couple of fine block saves before centre back O'Halleran smashed a powerful header against the bar.
The Lilywhites were dealt a blow when Adam Jones limped off. Steve Mason moved from midfield to defence with Nicky Platt joining the fray in midfield.
Mossley came more into the game in the closing minutes of the half with Ryan Brooke and Andy Keogh forcing saves by the visitors keeper.
Celtic again got on top after the break and doubled their lead on 60 minutes through the lively Neal Kengni.
Mossley again came to life late in the second half with Ben Halfacre twice going close but the Lilywhites were unable to reduce the arrears.
