After trailing at the break Mossley bounced back to lead 2-1 before being pegged back by a dubious late penalty on a warm sunny day against Avro at the Vestacare Stadium on Saturday.

With several players again unavailable the Mossley side had an experimental look and it showed in the first half as the home side, a little further into their pre season, dominated proceedings from the start.

Avro had already missed one gilt edged chance early on before taking a fifth minute lead. The elusive Eyufe brought a fine diving save out of Latham but Sam Rathbone was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Following the first drinks break Mossley came more into the game but created very little in the final third and Avro still provided the greater threat.

The early second half introduction of the lively Oumar Camara and Bailey Marsden had an almost immediate impact. Kane Hickman broke up an Avro attack and Marsden's clever through ball released trialist striker Ethan Sutcliffe who raced through the right channel before slotting home off the inside of the near post.

Mossley took the lead on 70 minutes. Hickman's long raking ball was flicked off the head of Sutcliffe into the path of fellow trialist Oumar Camara who controlled and cleverly clipped home from just inside the box.

Avro found their equaliser late in the game. A long ball forward bounced up awkwardly on Avro's artificial surface causing a collision between Latham and an Avro forward. The awrd of a penalty appeared harsh but Jake Cotterill's 'Panenka' spot kick fooled Latham and the game finished all square.
