Mossley put in a solid, organized, skilful and hard working performance to beat strong and direct NPL East champions Liversedge in the first Seel Park friendly of pre season on Saturday.

The Lilywhites more than matched the visitors physical approach and fully deserved to beat a team that lost only once in the League on their way to the title last season.

The Lilywhites took an early lead at a drizzly Seel Park when Jack Banister scored a goal very reminiscent of the one he scored at Irlam just two days earlier. A superb curling shot from the edge of the box that gave the 'sedge keeper no chance.

Mossley almost added another when a superb move ended with Andy Keogh's powerful header being superbly saved by the Liversedge number 1.

Liversedge were a constant threat with powerful driving attacks putting the Lilywhites back line under pressure, but the homesters stood firm martialed ably by Killock and Hartshorne, with young keeper Josh Pelling proving a confident and able last line of defence.

Mossley doubled their lead on 23 minutes. A superb run and cross by Freddie Sass was powerfully headed home by trialist striker Oumar Camara for his second goal of pre season.

The array of substitutions in the second half failed to dampen Mossley spirits and the game continued with a strong competitive edge. Some of the visitors challenges were a bit on the 'fruity' side as their frustration at not being able to break down the Lilywhites defence began to show.

At the other end Mossley had a few chances to extend their lead further but having failed to do so conceded a last minute consolation when a speculative shot from outside the box took a wicked deflection to beat Pelling for the first time in 180 minutes football.
