DOWNEY MOVES ON

27/08/06

Mossley's leading scorer for the past two seasons Chris Downey has chosen to move on after failing to get a starting berth in his favoured striker role in Mossley's opening games.

Downey played on the left of midfield in the opening game against Ilkeston (his 100th appearance for the club) and was then a substitute at Marine on Tuesday.

However, he has chosen to join UniBond Premier Division rivals Radcliffe Borough who see him as a straight replacement for their top scorer Steve Foster who moved on to AFC Telford United for a sizeable fee in the close season.

Downey scored a remarkable 53 goals in 101 appearances for the Lilywhites.
